Industrial grade pentaerythritol [C(CH_2OH)_4] is widely used in coatings, resins and other industries; reagent grade is commonly used in organic synthesis, analytical separation and gas chromatography stationary liquid. The main quality indicators are melting point and content. The melting point of the industrial grade is about 235 °C; the melting point of the reagent grade is 255-258 °C (260 °C or 262 °C in the literature). As for the content, the industrial grade is more than 87%, and the reagent grade is 98% in most countries (acetylation method).
